SEMMI (Serikat Mahasiswa Muslimin Indonesia) mengadakan Kongres ke-VIII di Surabaya, Jawa Timur. Kongres tersebut bertempat di Islamic Center Surabaya, dari 23-27 Februari 2023 dan dimeriahkan kader SEMMI se-Indonesia.
Empat Cabang (Tarakan, Bulungan, Malinau, Nunukan) dan Pengurus Wilayah dari Kalimantan Utara turut andil dalam proses berjalannya Kongres SEMMI di Surabaya. Meski terjadi dinamika yang membuat kondisi forum tidak kondusif, namun kongres tersebut tetap berjalan sebagai mana mestinya, mulai dari sidang pleno yang dipimpin presidium sidang, hingga pemilihan ketua umum pusat pengurus besar SEMMI. Ketua Wilayah Kaltara menyampaikkan bahwa SEMMI merupakan organisasi kader yang berikhtiar dalam perjuangan kritik dan kritis dalam berbagai hal di kehidupan manusia momentum kongres ini akan menyatukan pemikiran-pemikaran tersebut terkumpul dalam satu momentum kongres ini.
Setelah serangkaian proses, Bintang Wahyu Saputra terpilih dalam Kongres SEMMI ke-VIII sebagai Ketua Umum Pengurus Besar SEMMI periode 2023-2026. Empat Cabang dan Pengurus Wilayah Kaltara yang hadir mendukung dan mengucapkan selamat atas terpilihnya Ketua Umum PB SEMMI Bintang Wahyu Saputra.
Kami sebagai wilayah yang mendukung penuh Bintang wahyu saputra di moment kongres ini Menganggap bahwa Bintang tidak dipungkiri dialah yang membangun dan membangkitkan kembali SEMMI dan kami menganggap dia sangat layak dan pantas untuk kembali di momentum kongres ini.
